How should MMO X indicate health/spirit on PCs?

I'm not so good with being creative, so I'd like to hear suggestions from everyone else! How should a PCs health and spirit be indicated? I already gave one example of health in the UI/Camera section of the MMO X website, so how do you all feel about it? Make sure to keep suggestions realistic. If you feel like devs probably don't have the ability to program it, they probably don't. If you'd guess the average user's computer might not be able to handle it, it probably can't. So no lifelike cuts and wounds following the exact path of the attack, or even on the same part of the body. No increasingly bloodied clothes, either. Also, consider how annoying and distracting the effect might be. No DP buff style auras for full spirit, for instance. As long as you put real thought into your suggestion's implementation, you shouldn't have to worry.

I hope to hear from as many people as possible on this! If you can, a supplied picture or movie would be helpful (but not necessary) to go along with your description.

An introvert went to bar and spots a pretty looking woman sitting on the stool. He mustered all his courage for long time, then timidly approached and asked her, "Ma’ am, would be OK if sit here and talk with you?"
